CHQ – NRN Cumulonimbus encouter.
Maybe you’ve already read on Facebook that my flight was followed by the A-team. The flight from Chania (Crete) to Weeze (Germany) was an uneventful flight. Only during the descend we were once reminded that besides the summer-season, also the ‘CB-season’ has started.
Close to Dortmund we encountered a Cumulonimbus (CB) lying exactly on top of our route to Weeze (apologies for the turned photo :)).
Above the same CB, but seen through the cockpit window.
As we came closer we had the deviate from our route to avoid the weather. One golden rule in aviation is not to mess with CB’s! As always air traffic control is more then helpful in giving you enough freedom to maneuver around the CB and to pick up your initial routing, once clear of weather. Just another day in the office…
Above: a closer view of the CB blocking our way home 🙂
